CU students injured in cop action

Several students of Chittagong University were injured as baton-wielding policemen beat up them while staging a sit- on the campus.
A group of students under the banner of CU Chhatra Federation arranged the programme in front of the senate building around 1:00pm demanding resumption of the shuttle train service from the city’s Bat Toli station in the city.
Earlier, they brought out a protest procession that marched through major streets on the university campus, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
The lawmen went into action after the demonstrators refused to vacate the place, said Bikul Tazin, general secretary of CU Chhatra Federation.
“We are staging our sit-in in a peaceful manner but police forced us from the place in an indecent way,” Bikul blamed.
The CU-bound shuttle train started its operation at Sholoshahar Station from September 27 instead of Bat Toli station in the name of its yard remodeling activities, Bikul alleged.
After that, the university authorities did not take any initiatives to resume the shuttle train service from the Sholoshahar station despite completion of its remodeling works, the student leader said.
