Crisis-ridden United Airways
Almost all English dailies of 25th September reported that since Sept. 24 the airline has stopped all operations. All aircraft are lying at the domestic terminal of the airport. Surely the cash crunch did not happen suddenly. Only a few days back, the airline bought a new aircraft on loan. Was the airline's financial and cash flow not scrutinised by the financial institution concerned before such a loan was approved? In their last board meeting, they had removed their MD. And now the new MD has brought the airline to a near halt.
It is sad for the United Airways that reflects negatively on the overall image of local private airlines in Bangladesh. Civil aviation authority now needs to look into the financial and cash flow status of all private airlines so that such sorry state of affairs could be averted in future. This should also be a lesson for Bangladesh Biman.
