Man beaten to death by siblings for assaulting father

A man was beaten to death allegedly by his two siblings this morning in Dhaka's Badda area for assaulting their father.

The deceased was identified as Syed Abul Ala (50), third among eight brothers and sisters.

Police arrested his two brothers — Syed Ali Mitu (38) and Syed Musa (40) – in connection with the killing, said Abu Saied Mia, inspector (Investigation) of Badda Police Station.

Quoting the arrestees, the inspector said Ala was a drug addict and assaulted his father around 10:00am for money. In protest, the two arrestees beat him up leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body around 2:00 pm. The body of the deceased has been sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
