Chinese shoe company official stabbed dead in Cumilla EPZ

An official of a Chinese shoe company inside Cumilla Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) was stabbed to death in Cumilla city this afternoon.

The victim is Khairul Basar Sumon (36), a human resource officer of Xing Sing Shoe BD Limited in Cumilla EPZ and son of Momin Master of Manadari village in Cumilla Sadar South upazila, said Komol Krishna Dhor, inspector (operation) of Sadar South Police Station.

The inspector said Sumon came under attack from a group of assailants in front of Rosa Market in front of the EPZ gate around 5:00pm while returning home from work.

He was stabbed by the attackers indiscriminately and died on the way to hospital, our Cumilla correspondent reports quoting the police official.

Didarul Alam, administrative officer of Xing Sing Shoes BD Ltd, said, "The deceased is our HR officer. We will do everything possible according to our company rules."
