2 arrested in connection with rape of a woman in Bagerhat

Police last night arrested two people from Bagerhat's Sadar upazila in a case filed over the rape of a woman.

The arrestees, Alamgir Hossain (45) and Shovon Sheikh (24), were sent to jail after they were produced before a Bagerhat court today following primary interrogation, reports our Bagerhat correspondent quoting Bagerhat Model Police Station's Officer-in-Charge KM Azizul Islam. 

According to the case statement, on Monday, the accused Alamgir took the victim to his village where four people raped her. Later she was told not to disclose the matter to anyone and was sent home.

"After the victim lodged the case yesterday, we immediately launched an operation and arrested two of the four accused," the OC said.
