Court to decide on charges against cops, another Nov 28
A Dhaka court will decide on November 28 whether the charges brought against four cops including Sub-inspector Jahidur Rahman, and a civilian for killing jhut (scraps of fabrics of garment factories) trader Mahbubur Rahman Sujan will be taken into cognisance.
The court set the date after receiving a probe report on December 11 regarding Sujan's custodial death.
The judicial probe found the five involved in the murder.
The other three cops are Assistant Sub-inspector Raj Kumar and constables Asad and Rashedul of Mirpur Police Station, while the civilian is Mithun.
Sujan, 35, who was detained, what police say, on the charge of possessing arms, was allegedly tortured to death by some cops of the station in the wee hours on July 13.
His wife Momtaz Sultana Lucy filed a murder case with the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court on July 20, accusing 10 persons.
