Youth abducted from Bogra rescued in Dinajpur, 2 held
Police rescued a young man from Birampur upazila in the district on Monday, three days after his abduction from Bogra.
They also arrested two people---Rezaul Islam, 30, and Ruhul Amin, 26, for their alleged involvement in the abduction. Both hail from Chararhat village in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur.
The victim is Masum Talukdar, 30, of Dashkia-Nayapara village in Kalihati upazila of Tangail. He is an expatriate in Qatar.
Masum said the duo developed a relationship with him over mobile soon after he returned home from Qatar recently.
“After getting an invitation from Rezaul amd Ruhul, I went to Gabtoli upazila in Bogra to visit their homes on Saturday,” he said, adding that the two picked him up from Gabtoli bus stand and took him to Nawabganj upazila in Dinajpur in a microbus.
The kidnappers then demanded Tk 50,000 as ransom from the family for his release over mobile phone, law enforcers, quoting Masud, said.
On Monday night, a patrol police team rescued Masum from Chararhat area on Birampur-Dinajpur highway and arrested the two, said Shakila Parvin, officer-in-charge of Birampur Police Station.
