Woman killed, 4 hurt in clash

A woman was killed and four others were injured in a clash over jute rotting in a pond at Bonogram village in Nagarkanda upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was Hasina Beugm, 55, wife of Sukur Sheikh of the village.

Locals said Sheikh family has a pond. They use its water for taking bath. But Sukur Sheikh's cousin Belayet Sheikh went to rot jute there on Monday morning.

So Sukur and his family members resisted him. At the time, Belayet along with his supporters attacked Sukur and his family members with sharp weapon, leaving Hasina and four others injured.

Hasina Beugm and Sukur Sheikh were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Later, Hasina was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as her condition worsened. She later died on way to DMCH. A murder case was filed, accusing 41 people, said police.
