War trial: Charges pressed against 11 Mymensingh men

War crimes charges were pressed against 11 Mymensingh men today for allegedly committing crimes during the Liberation War in 1971.
War trial prosecutors Zead Al Malum, Sahidur Rahman and Rezia Sultana Chaman submitted the formal charges to International Crimes Tribunal-1 around noon.
The 11 were “involved” with Razakar Bahini during the war and “committed” crimes which include killing four people, torturing nine, looting, arson, abduction and confinement, according to the prosecution.
Among them, five are now in jail, and the prosecution today prayed to the tribunal to issue arrest warrant against the six others, Prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chaman told The Daily Star
Khalilur Rahman Mir alias Khalilur Rahman, 62, Md Samsuzzaman alias Abul Kalam, 65, Mohammad Abdullah, 62, Mohammad Abdul Malek Akand alias Abul Hossain, 68, and Md Rois Uddin Azadi alias Akkel Ali, 74 are in jail.
The charges are --killing of Sahabuddin alias Khoka, a local organiser of the Liberation War of Sadhua village; killing of freedom fighter Nur Hossain of Rouha village; killing of Joidhar Khan alias Taru, another local organiser of the war and looting and arson his houses in Sadhua village; and killing of Toiab Ali of Sadhua village.
