Uttara Ganobhaban management committee today filed a case accusing a contractor of the Public Works Department (PWD) for felling trees illegally in Natore town.

M Mamtaz Ali, an official of Natore’s deputy commissioner (DC) office, filed the case against Sohel Faysal tonight, our local correspondent reports quoting Mashiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Natore’s Sadar Police Station.

Police are raiding in different areas to arrest accused Sohel, OC Mashiur said.

Yesterday, the housing and public works ministry sent a letter to the deputy commissioner of Natore asking to file a case against a PWD contractor in connection with the incident.

Earlier the committee, which has been formed to investigate the felling of trees on Uttara Gonobhaban premises in Natore's Dighapatia, found that a large number of trees and branches had been cut down illegally.
