UP member shot dead in Laxmipur
A union parishad member was shot dead by miscreants in Laxmipur last night.
Deceased Khorshed Alam Milon, 37, a member of Dattapara union parishad under Sadar Upazila, was also the convener of Swechchhasebak League of the union unit, reports our correspondent from Noakhali.
Milon was sitting at a tea stall in Aladadpur area around 9:00pm, when four masked men appeared the scene riding on two motorbikes and looked for Milon, said Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandraganj Police Station.
When Milon moved towards them, the miscreants shot him indiscriminately and left the scene, the police official said.
Milon, a resident of Syedpur village, died on the spot, the OC said.
Informed, police rushed the spot and sent the body to Laxmipur General Hospital for autopsy, the OC said.
Demanding punishment of the killers, the deceased’s aunt Julekha Begun said they have no idea why Milon was killed.
Dr AHM Kamruzzaman, police superintendent (SP) of the district visited the spot and assured the family members that the killers would be brought to book as soon as possible.
