Two killed in piling collapse

A construction worker and a school kid were killed in collapse of piling materials in Paikura area of Netrakona's Mohanganj upazila on Tuesday.

The victims were identified as Rifat Mia, 18, son of Annes Ali of Chandrakhola village in Nakla upazila of Sherpur, and Tamim Hossain, 7, son of Habik Mia of Paikura village in Mohanganj.

Ansari Zinnat Ali, officer-in-charge of Mohanganj Police Station, said the piling materials of an under construction bridge collapsed during the piling work, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

The incident took place when the two were taking bath near the construction site, said the OC.
