Tourist drowns in river

A tourist drowned in the Piyain River at Jaflong in Gowainghat upazila of the district on Friday. The deceased was identified as Shaon Ahmed, 20, son of Jamal Mia of Jatrabari area in the capital. Sources said Shaon along with his seven friends went to the the river to take a bath around 3:00pm. At one stage, Shaon drowned in the river while the others managed to swim ashore.
