We apologise
We are sorry to inform you that one of our copy editors, while editing a UNB report, made a big factual error in the story, headlined “Don’t allow them to come back to power” and published on the front page of our May 18 issue.
In the third paragraph, it was published: “On this day in 1981, then newly elected AL President Sheikh Hasina had returned home from self-exile. She had left the country after the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members in 1975.”
The paragraph should be read as: On this day, in 1981, then newly elected Awami League President Sheikh Hasina returned home from her self-exile after the brutal assassination of Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members.
We apologise to our valued readers for the grave mistake.
