Teenager drowns in Bay

A teenage boy drowned and a man went missing in the Bay of Bengal of the district on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Rubel, 17, said Officer-in-Charge of Ukhia Police Station Jahirul Islam Khan. Rubel and some of his friends were playing football at Inani beach, said the OC. At one stage, a strong wave of water washed four of them, including Rubel, away to the sea. Later, a team of local divers rescued the four --- Harun, Rasel, Tareq and Rubel --- from the sea and took them to a local hospital where the on-duty doctors declared Rubel dead. In another incident, Faruk, who was enjoying Eid vacation in Cox's Bazar with five of his friends, went missing while bathing in the sea in front of Eco Resort Mermaid Café, said Executive Magistrate Sadequr Rahman. Faruk is a screenwriter by profession.
