A Sylhet court sent a suspect, Mirza Atik, in killing a former student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), to jail after he confessed to his crime at the court today.

Meanwhile, the court placed another suspect, Tayef Mohammad Ripon, on a three-day remand, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting Khairul Fazail, officer in-charge (OC) of Dakshin Surma Police Station.

Mirza, 28, of Sylhet, and Ripon, 23, of Brahmanbaria, were arrested last night in connection with the case.

Mahid was a student of Economics department at SUST. He was also an activist of Sylhet Ganajagaran Mancha.

Some muggers stabbed him in Sylhet’s Kadamtali bus stand area early Monday when he was on way to Dhaka to attend a job interview, leaving him dead.
