Support to Rajib's family
Patuakhali district administration gave financial support to road accident victim Rajib Hossain's family to help his two younger brothers to continue studies.
Deputy Commissioner Masumur Rahman handed over Tk 45,000 to Abdullah, 14, and Mahedi Hasan Bappi, 15, both younger brothers of Rajib, at the conference room of his office yesterday.
Abdullah and Mehedi are the students of Class VI and VII at Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasa in Dhaka.
Jahanara Begum, aunt of Rajib, ADC Hemayet Uddin and Patuakhali Press Club President Swanpan Banerjee were present at the function.
“We are trying our best to give all possible support to Rajib's family specially to continue studies of his two younger brothers Abdullah and Mehedi. We hope Tk one lakh more will be paid to the siblings,” said the DC.
On April 3, third-year student of Government Titumir College, Rajib, lost his right hand after it got stuck between two speeding buses trying to overtake each other in the capital's Sonargaon intersection area.
Profusely bleeding, the 22-year-old was taken to Samorita Hospital in Panthapath. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
He also suffered brain haemorrhage in the accident, and had been on life support in the Intensive Care Unit since April 10. He died on Tuesday at DMCH.
Rajib was a guardian to his younger brothers after the death of their father in 2007.
Their mother had died when Rajib was only eight years old and the youngest brother was just 10 months.
