Students continue demo outside Dhaka

Students across the country have been continuing their demonstration demanding safe roads.

In Chittagong, several hundreds of students took to the streets at Wasa intersection and in New Market area of the port city.

Students also tried to gather in Customs House area of the city but Jubo League men and CBA leaders of Chittagong Port Authority foiled their attempt.

In Rajshahi, several thousands of students formed a human chain programme at Shaheb Bazar Zero point in the city for two and half hours starting from 10:00am.

They chanted slogans demanding safe roads and removal of the shipping minister whose smile and comment on July 29 accident has raised a furor among people.

Later, they also sang national anthem there.

In Narayanganj, nearly 1,000 students were seen controlling traffic at Chashara, and checking driving licence and also forcing the motor bikers to wear helmets.  

In Moulvibazar, over 1,000 students coming from different schools blocked different points of the district and were staging movement till filing of this afternoon.

They were chanting slogan. “We want justice”.

In Savar, two highways --Abdullahpur-Baipail and Nabinagar-Chandra -- of Savar were blocked by the students since morning, reports our Savar correspondent.

Around 30-50 students of different schools and colleges took part in the blockade programme.

In Natore, students of different institution took position near Madrasah intersection and Rajpur Bazar area of the town since morning.

The demonstrators with the help of local elite forcers checked the driving license and documents of vehicles.
