State Minister Palak, 2 MPs among 21 get death threat
Twenty-one persons including State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, two lawmakers from Natore, political leaders and a journalist got death threat by a letter issued in the name of militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team.
The 'hit list' mentioned in the letter sent to Natore Press Club yesterday includes the names of Abul Kalam Azad, lawmaker from Natore-1 constituency, Shafiqul Islam Shimul, lawmaker from Natore-2, Shariful Islam Ramzan, chairman of Natore Sadar upazila parishad, Sirajul Islam Siraj, public prosecutor of Natore District and Sessions Judge's Court, Mortuza Ali Bablu, joint secretary of Natore district unit of Awami League (AL), Malek Sheikh and Shahidul Islam Bakul, both organising secretary of the unit, Kuheli Quddus Mukti, central leader of Jubo Mohila League, KM Zakir, mayor of Bonpara municipality, Md Jannatul Ferdous, mayor of Singra municipality, Akram, PS of lawmaker Shimul, Arzu Sheikh, councillor of Natore municipality, SM Firoz, president of Naldnaga upazila unit of AL, Asaduzzaman Asad, former vice-chairman of Natore Sadar upazila parishad, Rakibul Hasan Jems, BCL's district unit president, its former president Abdullah Al Sakib Baki, former secretary Shafiul Alam Sawpon, Bulbul Ahmed, former vice-president of Natore district unit of BCL, and Jahedul Islam Bhola, member of Natore district AL, and Dulal Sarker, secretary of Natore Press Club.
The latter claimed that the 21 people are in the first list made by the militant group as Natore is their first target in Rajshahi division.
More lists will be published later, it said.
Shyamol Kumer Mukharjee, superintendent of police in Natore, said police are investigating the matter.
