RU student held for ‘derogatory’ remarks on Bangabandhu, PM

Police today arrested a student of Rajshahi University for making “derogatory” remarks on Facebook about Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Dileep Roy, a student at economics department and also general secretary of RU Biplobi Chhatra Maitree, was held from Paribahan Market area on the campus around noon, a correspondent reports quoting Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station.

Later, Bangladesh Chhatra League President of RU unit Rashedul Islam Ranju filed a case against Dileep under the ICT act with the police station, Humayun Kabir said.

Dileep has been shown arrested in the case, the police official added.
