Roads and Highways dept engineer held for ‘bribe’ in Barguna

Anti-Corruption Commission today arrested an engineer of Roads and Highways Department with bribe money from his office and residence in Barguna.

A team of the anti-graft watchdog launched a drive at the office of Shamsul Shahriar Bhuiyan, sub-divisional engineer of RHD in Barguna, around 2:45pm following information that he took Tk 15 lakh from various contractors for contractor-related works, said a press release of ACC.

The ACC team along with local Executive Magistrate Yeanur Rahman recovered Tk 14.50 lakh bribe money after searching his office and residence and arrested him, it said.

A case was filed against Shamsul with Barguna Sadar Model Police Station in this connection.
