Rapist gets life

A court here on Tuesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping a woman in Sundarganj upazila of the district in 2005. The lifer is Khairul Islam of Bazarpara village.  Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal also fined the convict Tk 25000. In default, he is to suffer another one year in jail. According to the prosecution, Khairul entered the house of one of his neighbours at midnight and raped his divorced daughter on May 5, 2005.  Later, a case was filed with Sundarganj Police Station, accusing Khairul.
