Brutal!

A thirteen-year-old boy tied with a pole of a shop. He is being repeatedly charged with batons. Screaming for help, for water and requesting for his life, the boy succumbed to his injuries.

This is not a scene of a film. This heinous and brutal incident took place at Kumargaon bus stand in Sylhet on Wednesday. And one of the “perverts” filmed the whole incident to “share” it on the social media.

Sheikh Md Samiul Alam alias Razon was brutally beaten to death for his alleged involvement in theft in Sylhet. The young boy was vegetable vendor and son of micro-bus driver Sheikh Azizur Rahman.

In the video footage, Samiul was seen heavily sweating and screaming for water. The “savages” told him to drink his sweat instead.

After killing the boy, the culprits tried to hide the body. However, locals nabbed one Muhit Alam, 35, in connection with the incident and handed him over to police.

Akhter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Jalalabad Police Station, said police filed a murder case, accusing Muhit, his brother Kamrul Islam, 24, their associates Ali Hayder alias Ali, 34, and watchman Moyna Mia alias Boro Moyna, 45, of the murder.

Seven-day remand would be sought for Muhit, the OC added.

Lubna Akter, mother of the victim, said Samiul went out of the house in the morning. As he did not return home till night, she went to the police station to lodge a general diary. At that time she heard about the recovery of the body of a boy, and identified her son.

“My son is not a thief and is well known to the locals. I want justice,” the mother cried.

VIDEO of the killing

The Daily Star received a video of the brutal killing. But given the cruelty involved in the incident, the newspaper has decided not to use the video with the story. The textual description itself is enough to portray the viciousness of the attackers.
