Students and teachers of Khan Bahadur Awlad Hossain Khan High School organised the programme demanding punishment to the criminals who instigated Labonya Akter to commit suicide.
Labonya, 16, daughter of Siddik Khan of Barai village in Sadar upazila, allegedly committed suicide on April 9 following a threat by stalker Md Roman to spread objectionable pictures or videos of the victim on the internet. She appeared in this year's SSC examinations from the school.
Her mother Suraiya Akhter filed a case with Sadar Police Station against Roman, 20, for his alleged involvement in instigating her daughter's suicide.
According to the case statement, Roman, son of Abul Kalam of Purbo Dasra Bhaoipara village, used to stalk the girl on her way to school.
Roman used to take money from Labonya for drinking liquor by threatening the girl that he will spread her objectionable photos or videos on the internet.
Roman asked for money by calling her daughter 52 times on her cell phone, said the victim's father Siddik.
To meet his demand, Labonya asked for Tk 1000 from her mother. But her mother refused to give the money.
After failing to collect money, she took her life by hanging herself in fear of spreading of objectionable photos on the internet.
