Outlaw hacked, strangled
An underground operative was hacked and strangled at Nengri village in Chatmohar upazila of the district early yesterday.
Police recovered the body from a mustard field at the village.
The victim, Abdus Samad, 45, son of Chaity Pramanik of the village, was a member of outlawed Sarbahara Party. He had recently left the party and returned to normal life, police and locals said.
According to Officer-in-Charge Subrato Kumar of Chatmohar Police Station, Samad had been missing from his house since Wednesday.
“Criminals hacked and strangled him early today (Thursday) and dumped the body in a field at the village,” the OC said, adding that members of the Sarbahara party might have killed him over previous enmity.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Law enforcers are trying to nab the culprits involved, the OC further said.
