OC closed as negligence in duty alleged

The officer-in-charge of Boalmari Police Station in the district was closed on charge of negligence of duty during a clash between two groups that left a youth dead on Friday.

Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Kamruzzaman said the action was taken against OC AKM Aminul Islam for his negligence in duty during the clash.

On Friday morning, Ahadul Islam Ahad, 30, of Sibanandopur village was killed and six people were injured in the clash over catching fish at Foliya Beel (water body) in Boalmari upazila.

Police said supporters of Ratan, a local influential person, attacked Ahad and his men when they went to the water body for catching fish around 8:00am, leaving seven people injured.

Of the injured, Ahad was rushed to the upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead.

The other injured were admitted to the health complex and Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
