No headmaster in 131 Magura schools
One hundred and thirty-one government primary schools have been running without headmasters in Magura, hampering education of the students.
Acting Headmaster of Shaldha Government Primary School Md Sadiuzzaman said a school cannot run smoothly without a headmaster for six years.
Acting Headmaster Shakti Rani Singha Roy of Bezra Narandia Government Primary School under Mohammadpur upazila said the post of headmaster has been lying vacant since December last year, adding that it is very difficult to run the school with 450 students without headmaster.
Magura Assistant District Education Officer (DEO) Kumaresh Chandra Gachi said out of 500 primary schools in four upazilas of the district, 40 schools in Magura Sadar upazila, 27 in Sreepur, 25 in Shalikha and 39 in Mohammadpur upazila have been running without headmasters for the last six months to eight years.
Administrative work as well as education is hampered when a teacher runs a school as an acting headmaster, Gachi said.
