Youth stabbed dead in Sylhet
A young man died last night after he was stabbed during a clash over a previous altercation at Tilagarh area of Sylhet city.
The deceased was identified as Abhishek Dey Dip, 21, of Sadipur area in the city. Another youth, Saikat Roy, 23, also sustained injuries in the incident, reports our Sylhet correspondent quoting police.
“Dip and Saikat had an altercation during the Saraswati Puja organised at Gopaltila area recently and the matter was settled then,” Abdul Quaiyum Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Shahporan Police Station, said quoting witnesses.
“At around 9:30pm last night, Dip along with some others confronted Saikat and his friends at Tilagarh area and their altercation turned into a clash. Dip was stabbed multiple times by Saikat and his friends while Saikat was also stabbed,” the OC said.
“Dip succumbed to his injuries due to excessive loss of blood after locals carried him to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Saikat is also undergoing treatment at the hospital,” the police official also said.
No case has been filed in this connection yet and police are trying to nab the others involved in the clash, he added.
