Woman raped by multiple assaulters in Sylhet MC college

A woman was raped allegedly by a group of men at the hostel of Murari Chand College in Sylhet last night.

Police sources said that a group of men took the woman and her husband – who were visiting the college – to the college hostel, where they tied up the husband and raped the woman last night.

"On information, police rescued the rape victim and her husband and sent the victim to the One-stop Crisis Centre at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital around 12:10am," said Jyotirmoy Sarker, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP).

"Police are trying to confirm the identities of the perpetrators and arrest them," he said.

Saleh Ahmed, principal of the college, could not be reached for comment despite several attempts.

Police sources suspect that the perpetrators were students of the college.
