Woman murdered
A woman was hacked to death at Joyda Lengrabazar village in Muktagachha upazila of the district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Parul Wrishi, 40, wife of late Jongli Wrishi of the village. She was the mother of four children.
Quoting the neighbours, Officer-in-Charge of Muktagachha Police Station Mohammad Ali Mahmud said Parul went to sleep alone on Saturday night as her children went to visit a relative’s house.
In the morning, neighbours found Parul lying on a pool of blood on the floor and informed police who later recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) for autopsy.
Parul might have been killed over previous enmity, said the OC.
Police detained two youths of the village for interrogation, he said.
Meanwhile, police early yesterday arrested a boy on charge of killing an elderly woman in Kishoreganj town.
The victim was Joynob Bibi, 65, wife of late Abul Hossain of Gujaria village in Karimganj upazila.
Her son Delwar Hossain, 38, an assistant teacher of Monsantushpur Government Primary School in Karimganj, was also critically injured in the attack. He is now undergoing treatment at MMCH.
Police detained the body from Harua area, said OC of Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station Abu Bakar Siddiq.
However, the name of the arrestee was not disclosed, said the OC.
