Wild elephant hurt after being shot by criminals in Bandarban
A wild elephant has been critically injured after it was shot by criminals at a remote area in Lama upazila of Bandarban.
The elephant—around 23-25 years old—was hit by a bullet in the right front leg around 10-15 days ago, reports our Bandarban correspondent quoting forest officials.
Steps have been taken to provide treatment to the injured elephant, said Anwar Hossain Khan, range officer of Forest Department of Lama upazila.
"The elephant is in a critical condition. It cannot walk as the wound has gotten infected," said Dr Mustafizur Rahman, surgeon at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park.
An expert team of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University will go to Bandarban to treat the elephant, he added.
