Victim returns home from hospital
A mother of four, who was gang-raped in Subarnachar of Noakhali on December 31, returned home yesterday after taking treatment for 17 days as doctors at 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital gave her discharge certificate.
"She was given treatment after necessary tests for more than two weeks as per advice of a medical board. She has been advised to consult a bone specialist at the hospital on February 2," said Resident Medical Officer Syed Mohiuddin Abdul Azim.
Investigation Officer of the case Detective Branch Police Sub-Inspector Zakir Hossain said they are careful about the security of the victim.
The woman was gang-raped in Noakhali's Subarnachar on December 31 last year, allegedly by 10 to 12 Awami League activists.
She said she was raped for voting for 'sheaf of paddy,' the electoral symbol of BNP in the December 30 parliamentary polls.
Police arrested 11 people in connection with the crime.
Char Jabbar Police Station OC Nizam Uddin was withdrawn on January 15 for negligence of duty during the incident.
