Toxic liquor claims 2 more lives

At least two people died after taking spurious liquor in Kalihati upazila in the last two days.

The deceased are Gopal Chandra Paul, 35, and Ananda Chandra Paul, 52, of Betdoba Paulpara village in the upazila.

Meanwhile, Tokon Paul, 35, another youth of the village, is now undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The trio took excessive alcohol on Tuesday, on the occasion of Bijoya Dashami, and fell sick, Officer in Charge of Kalihati Police Station Hasan Al Mamun said.

Later, following deterioration of their condition, they were first admitted to Kalihati Upazila Health Complex on Wednesday and then referred to Tangail General Hospital the same night.

Ananda was died on way to the hospital while Gopal died at the hospital yesterday morning.
