Tk 1cr goods gutted in fire
A fire at Benapole land port in Jashore was doused yesterday morning by fire service.
Two fire units from Fire Service and Civil Defence station in Jessore brought the blaze under control around 11:00am, Station Officer Towhidur Rahman said, adding that a firefighter suffered minor injuries during the two-hour long effort.
The fire, apparently due to an electrical short circuit, originated in shed 35 of the port and it might have caused an estimated damage of Tk 1 crore, said Prodos Kanti Das, director of the port.
The port authorities formed a three-member probe committee led by Abdul Jalil, deputy director of the port, with report submission deadline of seven days, the director also said.
