Teenager hacked dead in Sirajganj
Unidentified criminals hacked a teenage boy to death, allegedly over previous enmity, beside a railway track in Sirajganj Sadar upazila on Sunday night.
The 18-year-old victim, Monir Hossain Talukder, a battery-run auto-rickshaw driver, was son of Nazrul Islam Talukder of Kalia Kandapara village in the upazila.
Criminals, in guise of passengers, hired Monir's auto-rickshaw and were heading towards Kalia Haripur road, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Mohammad Daud said, adding that after traveling some distance, finding the road empty, they hacked Monir indiscriminately with sharp weapons around 8:30pm and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured in the vehicle.
Hearing cry for help, local people rescued Monir and took him to Sirajganj General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 9:00pm.
In primary investigation, it seems that the boy might have been killed over personal enmity,” the OC said, adding that after conducting autopsy, Monir's body was handed over to his family members.
