Six Allahar Dal men sent to jail
A Madaripur court yesterday sent six militants of banned Islamist outfit Allahar Dal to jail after the police produced them before it.
Detective Branch (DB) of Madaripur police arrested the members of Allahar Dal from Tantoli area in Madaripur Sadar upazila on Monday, said Madaripur Superintendent of Police Subrata Kumar Halder.
The arrestees are Selim Raza, 29, son of Shamsher Ali of Garadoba area in Meherpur, Alam Rana, 34, son of Omar Ali of Tamakpotti area in Narayanganj, Russel Mahamud, 21, son of Sabur Ali of Sherpur area in Bogura, Ilias Mollah, 34, son of Rashid Mollah of Tantoli area, Shakil Khan, 25, son of Abu Bakkar Siddik of Housdi area, and Sabuj Howlader, 28, son of Faruk Howlader of Hajir Howla area in Sadar upazila of Madaripur.
Acting on a tip-off, Detective Branch of Madaripur police raided different houses in Tantoli area and arrested them, Subrata said. Police also recovered explosives, mobile phones, leaflets and Tk 12,000 in cash from their possession during the raid, he added.
The militants confessed to their involvement with the activities of Allahar Dal during primary interrogation, said the SP.
He said Al-Amin Khandakar, assistant sub-inspector of Detective Branch of Madaripur police, filed a case with Sadar Model Police Station against the six in this regard.
The arrestees were produced before a Madaripur court that sent them to jail yesterday, the SP said.
