Siblings among 3 children killed after cave-in at Gaibandha

Three children, including two brothers, were killed after a chunk of soil caved in on them when they were playing inside a roadside ditch made during construction of a road in Gaibandha's Sundarganj upazila this evening.

The deceased were identified as Hazrat Ali (7) and Abir Ali (5), sons of Masud Ali, and Rifat Mia, son of Shahidul Islam, reports our Bogura correspondent.

Quoting locals and the victims' family members, Abdullahil Jaman, officer-in-charge of Sundarganj Police Station, said the three children were playing in a roadside ditch created by an excavator during constructing a road near their homes in Kisamat Sadar village.

They were missing since this noon. Around 6:00pm, the family members found them buried under the soil, said the OC.

When the children were playing, a chunk of soil caved in on them and they were trapped under the soil and died later, added the OC.
