Sex worker murdered in Rajbari

A sex worker was murdered at a brothel in Daulatdia under Goalando upazila of Rajbari on Thursday.

The victim was identified as Shahanaz Parvin Swapna alias Shashi, 26.

Local people caught the alleged killer, Roni Molla, 22, son of Sohrab Molla of Kouriballa village in Harirampur upazila of Manikganj.

Siddik Sheikh, a guard of the brothel, said Roni entered Swapna's house around 7:30pm on Thursday night, keeping his friend Rafiqul Islam waiting outside.

After a while, hearing Swapna's screams, locals rushed to her house and found her in a critical state with slit-throat.

They first took Swapna to Goalando Upazila Health Complex and then to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where the doctors declared her dead around 9:00pm the same night, Siddik said.

Officer in Charge of Goalando Police Station Ezaz Shafi said deceased's cousin Mitu Akter filed a murder case with the police station accusing Roni and Rafiqul on Friday morning.

Roni confessed his involvement in the murder after police produced him before a court, the OC added.
