Second man shot by minister’s security personnel dies

The second of the two men shot by the gunman of Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozzammel Haque in Gazipur on April 16 died at a hospital early today.

Muhim Uddin, 32, was undergoing treatment at Enam Medical College and Hospital in Savar and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital around 2:00am, said Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kaliakoir Police Station.

Law enforcers arrested ASI Kishor from Ashulia area of Savar a day after the incident. The other victim, Shaheed, 30, had died on the spot after being shot.

The second victim was son of Abdul Malek of Ajgana village in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail, our Gazipur correspondent reports quoting the police official.

Muhim and Shaheed, 30, hailing from the same village, were both shot on the same spot.

According to Kaliakoir police, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Kishor Kumar and the victims were friends.

ASI Kishor called Muhim to a field in Kutubdia area on April 16, and once the two came to the spot, Kishor opened fire at them. Shaheed died on the spot, while Muhim sustained bullet injuries, said police.

On information, police recovered the body of Shaheed and sent it to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College Hospital, while Muhim was taken to Enam Medical College Hospital for treatment.
