Schoolgirl murder: Teen surrenders
A 14-year-old boy, prime accused in schoolgirl Sadia Samad Lisa murder case, surrendered to a court in Panchagarh yesterday.
District and Sessions Judge Jalal Uddin Ahammad sent Ayman Nakib Saad to jail when he surrendered before his court in the afternoon.
Victim Lisa was the daughter of Abdus Samad of Chotodap village in Atwary upazila, and a Class VIII student of Atwary Government Pilot School.
Police recovered Lisa’s body from a pond in the area on Friday.
Later, the victim’s father filed a case with Atwary Police Station accusing three neighbouring boys. Two of the accused were arrested on Friday evening.
Family members alleged that Saad threatened Lisa on several occasions as she refused his love proposal.
Saad also threatened Lisa’s family with dire consequences on Thursday afternoon after he was beaten by another boy over the latter’s relationship with Lisa.
Lisa remained missing on Thursday evening and her body was found floating in a pond near their house the following day. Saad went into hiding soon after the incident.
On Monday, people from all walks of life formed a human chain in front of the upazila parishad demanding exemplary punishment of those responsible for the killing.
