Schoolboy murdered in Netrakona
Police recovered the body of a schoolboy with an eye gouged out from a paddy field at Khaliajury upazila on Tuesday night.
The victim was identified as Dipu Sarker, 15, son of farmer Monto Sarker of Kadirpur village in the upazila. Dipu was a ninth grader at Khaliajury Pilot High School.
Quoting Dipu's father, Khaliajury Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Hazrat Ali said Dipu went out of his house around 8:00pm on Tuesday and did not return home.
Family members searched for Dipu in the village but could not find him. Later, local people found his body in a paddy field and informed police.
On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and then sent it to Netrakona General Hospital for autopsy.
The body bore injuries on the forehead, neck and head and the left eye was gouged out, the OC said. It was a pre-planned murder, he added.
Police detained one Gobinda Sarker, 32, a farmer of the same village, for interrogation as there was a longstanding feud between Gobinda and Monto.
Gobinda was being interrogated at the police station as of filing of this report yesterday.
