School gets undue closure for four days
The pleasure trip of teachers and school managing committee members of Radhanagar Majumder Academy (RM Academy) in Pabna town, closing the academic activities of the institution for four days, sparked a widespread criticism among guardians and locals.
Funded by a school 'guide book' publisher, over 50 teachers, employees and school managing committee members travelled to Cox's Bazar on Sunday and are supposed to return on Friday closing the school for four days, sources at the school said.
Headmaster of RM Academy Mohammad Golam Kibria said the school authority has issued a notice regarding closure of the institution till Thursday.
The institution is closed for four days according to the decision of the school managing committee, Kibria said, adding that, they have also decided to recover the loss by holding classes during the Ramadan.
Meanwhile, many students and their guardians criticised the decision of halting academic activities for picnic by the school authority.
“Though this is the peak time for schooling, suddenly our school is closed,” said Shadhin, a Class IX student of the institution.
“If school authorities want to go for a picnic outside the district they must take permission from the district administration, District Education Officer SM Moslem Uddin said, adding that without informing the local administration none can close any institution.
School Managing Committee President Sohel Hasan Shahin said they have submitted an application to the district administration in this regard.
Pabna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Jasim Uddin said authorities of RM Academy didn't take any permission for their pleasure trip.
