A pregnant woman showing symptoms of Covid-19 dies in Bogura
A 19-year-old pregnant woman died with Covid-19 symptoms one hour after her admission at Bogura's Mohammad Ali Hospital last night.
The patient was admitted at the isolation unit with fever and shortness of breathing around 9:00pm, said Shafique Amin Kajal, resident medical officer of Mohammad Ali Hospital (dedicated for corona treatment).
She was seven-months pregnant, he added.
Earlier, she was taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahaman Medical College Hospital around 8.00pm, but doctors referred her to the hospital as her condition deteriorated, the RMO added.
Her samples were collected for coronavirus testing, he said.
The deceased used to live in Dhaka with her husband and returned to her parent's house a month ago.
She was suffering from fever and breathing problems for five days and undergoing treatment at Naogaon Sadar Upazila Health Complex, our local correspondent reports.
Hospital authorities disinfected the body and handed it over to her father's village Tajpur in Badalgachi upazila early today.
But villagers did not allow them to bury the body at her father's land in the village, said Chowdhury Zobayer Ahmmed, officer-in-charge of Badalgachi Police Station.
Later, the body was buried near an embankment of Choto Jamuna river, one kilometre away from the village, the OC added.
