PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan’s father passes away

Md Anwar Hossain, father of Ashraful Alam Khokan, deputy press secretary to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, passed away today at his village in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur.

He was 79.

"My father died of cardiac arrest around 9:40am," Ashraful Alam Khokan told The Daily Star.

Anwar Hossain left behind his two sons, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

He was laid to rest at his family graveyard in the upazila's Ekdala village following a namaz-e-janaza held at Taraganj Bazar after Asr prayers.

In a condolence message, Sheikh Hasina prayed for the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim also expressed profound shock at the death of Anwar Hossain.

Besides, a host of ministers and leaders of different political parties and organisations expressed condolence at the demise.
