Pabna Jubo League leader held for ‘spreading rumours on coronavirus’

Police have arrested a leader of Jubo League from Pabna for allegedly spreading rumours about coronavirus on social media.

Arrestee Abdus Salam Mollah is the organising secretary of the Awami League youth front's Ishwardi municipality unit, reports our Pabna correspondent.

The man uploaded a video on Facebook which claimed coronavirus is spreading at Ishwardi from Russians residing in the area, our correspondent reports quoting Bahauddin Faruque, officer-in-charge of Ishwrdi Police Station.

A sub-inspector of the police station Atiqul Islam lodged a case against the Jubo League leader under digital security act on March 30, the OC said.

The arrestee tried to instigate people by sharing fake information, he added.
