Over 600 vehicles stuck at Paturia-Daulatdia ferry terminal
Ferry service on Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma river was disrupted due to its water level rising.
At least 500 loaded trucks and around one hundred buses were seen waiting in queues at the ferry terminal around 1:30pm, our Manikganj correspondent reports.
Due to the speedy wave of the river, the ferry service is being disrupted, said Ajmal Hossain, deputy general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) of Aricha.
Twelve out of 15 ferries are transporting the huge number of trucks and buses at the terminal. A request for two more ferries has been sent to the higher authority to manage the situation, he added.
Most of the ferries and very old. Therefore, the functioning ones are not working properly against the speedy wave, said Swadesh Prasad Mandal, an official of the BIWTC.
