Novoair to bring back stranded Bangladeshis from India on 2 special flights
Novoair, a private airline, will operate two special flights from Kolkata to Dhaka end of this month to bring back stranded Bangladeshis from India.
The two chartered flights will be operated on May 29 and May 31, Mofizur Rahman, managing director of Novoair, told The Daily Star.
Interested passengers have been requested to contact Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata to enroll their names with required information.
The returnees must provide a "Covid-19 free certificate" or "Covid-19 symptom free certificate" to the medical team at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata said in a release.
In case of failure to show the health certificate, passengers will have to go through 14-day institutional quarantine procedure.
Earlier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and US-Bangla Airlines operated special flights from India to bring home the stranded Bangladeshis there amid suspension of international flights due to coronavirus pandemic.
A total of 3,684 Bangladeshi citizens have so far been repatriated through 27 chartered flights in three phases over the last four weeks, sources at HSIA said.
They remained stranded for around two months in different Indian cities including New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore before being repatriated to Bangladesh.
28 BANGLADESHIS RETURN FROM DUBAI ON SPECIAL BIMAN FLIGHT
A total of 28 Bangladeshi nationals today returned home from Dubai on a special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
The flight landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 8:12am, Tahera Khandaker, deputy general manager (public relations) of Biman, told The Daily Star.
