Newborn found on Cox’s Bazar road

A newborn was found on a road in Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila tonight.

Two pedestrians first saw the baby on the road near Chhami Uddin village in Pokkhali union and informed others, said local union parishad member Md Shahjahan.

The villagers then rescued the baby and handed her to Union Parishad Dafadar Nurul Huda.

Later, the newborn was handed over to one Umme Habiba, wife of expatriate Hayat Ullah of adjoining Chaufaldandi union, as she expressed her eagerness to adopt the baby, Shahjahan told our Cox's Bazar correspondent.

Umme Habiba said the baby has been admitted to the district Sadar hospital as she was suffering from various complications due to premature birth.
