Mystery over death of college girl
Mystery surrounds the death of a college girl whose body was found in her bedroom in Bakshiganj upazila headquarters yesterday.
The deceased, Ratija Tansin Sathi, 22, daughter of trader Shah Alam of Dhakai Patti area in the upazila, was a second year honours student at Government Jahida Shafir Women's College in Jamalpur town.
The victim's family members found Sathi lying on her bed with her scarf round her neck, with one end of the scarf tied to a window adjacent to the bed, at around 6:00am.
Immediately, they sensed that Sathi was dead, said police quoting the victim's family members.
Informed, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Jamalpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Bakshiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tawhidur Rahman.
The family members said Sathi might have committed suicide over a quarrel with her younger sister, the OC said.
It will be clear whether it was murder or suicide after the autopsy, he added.
