MP Rana denied bail again
Awami League lawmaker from Tangail-3 (Ghatail) constituency Amanur Rahman Khan Rana was again denied bail in freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed murder case.
Maksuda Khanom, judge of Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court-1, yesterday passed the order in a crowded courtroom, said Additional Public Prosecutor Monirul Islam.
Mentionable, Rana had earlier been denied bail on several occasions both by the Tangail court and also higher courts.
Rana was taken to the court from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur around 10:50am yesterday.
Rana's lawyer Abdul Baki Miah sought his bail while the state side opposed the bail, Monirul said.
Earlier, three more prosecution witnesses of the case-- Faruk Hasan Bhuiyan, Solaiman and Anwar-- gave their statements to the court. Rana's lawyers conducted their cross examinations, he said.
Later, the judge fixed November 22 for hearing of other witnesses of the case, he added.
The bullet-hit body of district AL leader Faruk was found near his College Para house in Tangail town on January 18 in 2013.
Later, Faruk's wife Nahar Ahmed filed a case with Tangail Police Station accusing unidentified criminals.
A charge-sheet in the case was submitted on February 3 last year.
Four of the 14 accused, including Rana, are in jail while three are on bail. Seven others, including three younger brothers of Rana, are still on the run.
In September last year, charges were framed against the accused.
